The youth group at Bethel Baptist Church seeks to be a place where kids can develop further into followers of Jesus (discipleship). To accomplish this, our youth group focuses on three things:
First, we seek to develop biblical friendships. We know that friends have one of the most significant influences on our lives. Understanding how to have fun with, grow with, and love others is essential to discipleship. Thus, as these young people come together, we hope they will learn what it means to care about one another well and have a long-lasting community that will push them toward Jesus.
Second, we seek to grow in the knowledge of God. It is impossible to follow Jesus if we don’t know Jesus. We don’t follow an abstract God but one who has made Himself known through His Word. Thus, our group emphasizes the study of God’s Word so that we may better understand him and follow what He says.
Third, we seek to serve the church. Followers of Jesus, no matter the age, have been given the responsibility of participating in and adding to His church. We follow Jesus best as we use our gifts to serve one another in the church through all the gifts God has given us. As Christians do this, we disciple one another. Thus, we push all those into better relationships with the local church so that they might help other church members follow Jesus. May we be a part of raising another generation of youth to love Jesus!
